Multimode Fiber Splitters

Castor's Multimode Fiber Splitters (MFS) are designed to efficiently split or combine multimode signals with minimal insertion loss. Manufactured with step-index fibers with core diameter ranging from 50 to 400 µm, they offer uniform splitting ratios across output channels. They operate bidirectionally with low loss and a stable performance over the multimode fiber's operating wavelength range.

Engineered using Castor's expertise in fusion-tapering technique, each MFS is a monolithic fused structure, ensuring high optical performance and mechanical stability.

MFS are available in a range of core sizes and numerical apertures (NA), providing an efficient and robust solution for multimode light management in applications such as optogenetics, sensing, fluorescence detection, and environmental monitoring.

Overview

Our Multimode Fiber Splitters are available in either a splitter or combiner configuration. Splitters are packaged in a 1xN configuration and are used to evenly distribute light across N output ports. Combiners are packaged in a NxN configuration and can be used to both split and mix N light sources into N output channels.

The MFS feature a uniform spectral response across the entire operating range of the fiber—typically from 400 to 1600 nm (Low-OH) or from 400 to 900 nm (High-OH).
